Hi, I’m Amy – Co-creator of Love It Forward.

I’m very excited about our first Love-In-Action Cause.

We launch Love It Forward with two main branches. The catalyst for this Movement began with: Author Jeff Brown, his self-published book Soulshaping, his passion for helping others, and a man named Slim. You can watch the story here:  This was the initial spark for Jeff’s idea to create an new product distribution paradigm-- where heart-centered products are sold through the homeless and economically challenged—benefitting both the Consumer who gains an inspiring product; and the Seller who is encompassed back into society’s nest. This is ‘conscious capitalism’ in action, or what Jeff calls ‘Wintentionality.’ Everyone wins.

Our second branch of Love It Forward will feature regular Love-In-Action Causes-- aimed to lift (LIF-t) and boost the lives of individuals in our human community. Our Love-In-Action Goals will focus on a spectrum of different causes and individuals. Love-In- Action Goals are the essence of Love It Forward—putting love into action, lifting people up, and empowering them to Love It Forward. Creating an unstoppable chain of goodness-momentum.

We were inspired to kickstart our first Love-In-Action Goal with a focus on the YOUTH of our human community. Maybe it’s my endearment towards my teen son – seeing the fresh, unbridled exuberance that lives in our young adults...The gleaming potential waiting to be tapped and brought forth. Our youth are so ripe to discover themselves-- especially when they are given a climate of nurture and guidance. This is very exciting! So we present our first Love-In-Action Goal: GIVING YOUTH A BOOST.

Meet David and Mimi, two young people from Buffalo New York, with big hearts, wondrous potential, and much to give. They grew up in the downtrodden and unsafe recesses of the inner city, living under harsh circumstances like poverty and foster care situations, surrounded by drug use and extreme violence. They have come from dark circumstances-- and yet have stayed true to their own inner light. These two youth still believe in the goodness of humankind. They believe in integrity. And they are already ‘loving it forward’ in their own lives-- finding ways to take what little they have... and gift it forward.

I met David and Mimi through my dear friend Linda Appleby. Linda was their Mentor throughout high school – that high school music teacher with a compassionate heart, who was compelled to go above and beyond her job— to form a close personal mentorship with these students. To give them rides home from choir practice, after they had walked miles wearing only hoodies in the frigid snowy Buffalo winters. She believed in them. And that has made all the difference.

When she introduced me to David and Mimi –I knew we found our first Love-In-Action Cause. These are young people that embody true sincerity to move forward in their lives. They do not take any gesture of kindness for granted. They have worked hard to climb above their life-circumstances... David tirelessly works 12 hours days, lifting steel beams 3 times more than his own weight—so he could rise above, and secure an apartment in a better part of the city. The more time I spend with these two young people –the more touched and inspired I am. They have earned a boost in life... and they will continue to Love It Forward in wonderfull ways.

One of David and Mimi’s life-passions is MUSIC. Music have given them hope, and lifted their spirits during difficult times. Both of them are musically talented—David has a voice like silk, sweet as honey, that melts the heart. Mimi has a love for singing, and natural gift and talent for composing music; simply picking up an instrument and creating beautiful sound. Whether it’s break-dancing out on the city streets, or jamming together in their neighborhood—music has been their safe haven.

And lately, their love of music has unfolded in a surprising direction: encompassing other youth-at-risk into the nest. Through much hard work , together David and Mimi have purchased some basic music recording equipment set up in David’s apartment...This has become a magnet for other kids in the neighborhood—who are hungering for a way to positively express themselves. David and Mimi are mentors and role models to these younger ones. One day, 25 kids were jammed and crammed on the floors of their tiny apartment. Kids coming together to record music, to rap, to sing, to find their voice, in a supportive environment.

So, as our first Love-In-Action Goal – we aim to help David and Mimi take their makeshift ‘recording studio’ to the next level. We would like to purchase more advanced recording equipment, which will include a new laptop, with music software—for mixing songs. Some new mics. And a keyboard-- so Mimi can play her heart out (she loves playing piano)—and teach other younglings to do the same.

This is just Phase One of a vision that has the potential to grow – as these tiny seeds of goodness are planted... It is my vision (and theirs) that eventually these kids can fully follow their passion for music-- and for giving... Perhaps evolving into an actual recording studio/creativity space geared towards youth-in-need. We have many bright ideas for this studio. One step at a time....

For now – Phase One: more recording equipment for these kids to create and share with. We invite you to watch our intro-vid—which we recorded impromptu on a little handheld cam. Our video is not professionally-made and reflects our grassroots beginning—but I think it manages to tell the story. Watch video here.

If you feel touched in any way by our intention—consider making a donation. Or, simply purchase a heart-centered product, such as Jeff’s latest book... Enjoy the product AND the warmth of Loving It Forward- at the same time. Loving It Forward to David and Mimi. Who will then be Loving It Forward to other youth in need. Who will then be.... and on it goes. This Love-Wave will keep rippling... into a ‘Soulnami’ (as Jeff would say) of epic proportions. It may travel to some surprising places. That’s the nature of Love.

And, cool thing is –we will keep you connected to this entire process, every step of the way—through more videos, blogs, updates, photos. So you can watch the unstoppable force of Love-In-Action.

“So many live their lives feeling unloved, unseen, unrecognized, unappreciated. You may not know who they are because we are all conditioned to hide our truth below a bushel of shame. But they are everywhere. When you make an effort to share your love, you don’t always know where it will land. But be sure that it does. Sometimes it lights a torch for others to follow. Sometimes it gives them reason to believe that there is a better life waiting for them after a lifetime of disappointment. Sometimes it builds spirits and sometimes it actually saves lives. We just have to keep giving the love wherever and whenever we can. You never know how far it will travel.”
